“Parents and families are the first, most important teachers in a child’s life.
Before a child learns to read and write, they learn to listen and speak.
Literacy learning starts at home in a child’s first three years of life – in the lap of a trusted and caring adult.
Brain science tells us that children are developing these skills from birth, which is why support for children to gain early literacy skills is absolutely critical even in the first few years of life – long before they enter preschool or kindergarten.”
